My daughter had a volleyball scrimmage last Saturday. She wore a uniform with number for the captain of her team. My daughter is the shortest player in the team now, but my husband said she was the best. I totally agree with him.
Our daughter was not good at any sports except swimming until the age of nine. I was anxious about her joining a volleyball club when she was ten. After she had a very hard one-year-practice for playing as a setter, however, she definitely changed. The practice she had was too much strict and tough for grade schoolers, but now it turns out that is remarkably meaningful to her.
"I'll keep playing volleyball," she said.
"I've learned a lot from volleyball, and I'm glad to aim at something with my teammates."
Yes, that's its own reward.
