Now that I'm going back to Kumamoto due to my husband's transfer, today's Korean lesson was the last one for me. I was unwilling to reveal my sudden move during the lesson, so I kept my mouth shut until the time the lesson wrapped up. "Out of the blue!" my teacher was bowled over by my words. I felt very sad to see her disappointed face, but I also felt a bit confident about being able to inform her of the news in Korean.
Today, she prepared lunch for us again.
I clearly remember the day when I first met her at my daughter's school. There was a Korean class organized by our school committee, and she showed up as an instructor. I thoroughly enjoyed her lesson, and for the first time, I suddenly wanted to take her Korean lesson. When the class was over, I encouraged myself to accost her and asked, "Would you please teach me Korean?" I got a wonderful smile as an answer.
She was always kind to me. She taught me a lot about not only Korean language but also Korean cuisine, culture and people. I will never forget her hospitality. Never ever.
