I talked with a friend of mine on the phone yesterday for the first time in months. We used to get together 1)once a month at least
a several years ago, studying English at a community centre or chatting over cup of coffee at an English school. She is a determined, energetic and affable woman among my friends, so whenever I'm spending
time with her, I never fail to get something inspiring.
I would say we are different in many ways. She is familiar with English words in the news, and I'm not. I like studying English with movies and dramas, but she seems to find the way I'm doing somewhat
. I like British English, but her English is completely influenced by American
. And I must say, she is much
younger than I am. I suppose those differences in character or background have
to maintain our friendship of years. I know she has any time to spare due to her tight schedule, but I hope we'll soon talk over the phone.
1) "once a month at least" is more idiomatic
2) "whenever I spend" is better
