I've been following one of the exmaples which I found in a textbook on the teaching of English. That is, "Let's have fun!" The author says that teachers should make an effort not only to educate students but also to convey how interesting learning English is. Teachers need to enjoy themselves, and they have to be immersed in English to cultivate their own abilities. I'm very good at enjoying myself already, but I had to think about how I could pass it on to my students. And an idea popped up in my mind. "Young people like listening to music!" I got two CDs on my way home the other day in hope of stimulating my students curiosity, and now I've played groovy pop-music from the 80's while my students are practicing vocabulary.
Letting students listen to music when I give a simple dictation to them. This idea comes from one of my favorite English-teaching textbooks. I've never thought about the way of instructing! My students love this practice even though they used to hate the dull drill. I'd love to invest in them in every ways! Now I'm thinking about getting another one which contained one of my favorite songs called "Satomi Hakkenden"
