Are senior citizens discriminated against in today's society?
I'd say that senior citizens are discriminated agaist in today's society. I have two reasons for this.
Firstly, they are often forced to leave their workplaces when they reach a certain age. It's commonly called a retirement age, but actually it's age discrimination. No matter how well they can perform, senior citizens are considered senile, vulnerable, and less productive. It's sad to say that they need to give up working against their will because they're getting old.
Secondly, they have trouble finding a job. Once they leave a workplace, for example, a lot of time, effort, and luck will be needed until they can settle down again. Productivity doesn't have to do with an individual's potential, yet general job advertisements often have notes about age limits, shutting the door to senior citizens eager to work.
They may be able to work more efficiently than young people who are unwilling to work hard. Our society has been wasting precious resources. We live in an ageing society which has been wasting precious resources with clearly counterproductive age limits.
Everybody wants to be needed. Age limits and retirement ages surely show that we have discrimination in today's society. Thank you for your great davice, Amos!!
