Should more be done to help the working poor?
Yes, I'm for the idea that we should do something to help the working poor. I have three reasons for this.
Firstly, helping the working poor will lead to the prosperity of our country. Nobody is goofing off and complaining about their incomes. What's more, much revenue from taxes can be expected. The government doesn't need to squeeze the money for aiding working poor because citizens can afford to live on their incomes. In order to achieve this goal, first of all, the government needs to offer working opportunities. Infrastructural project is one of the great actions, and subsidy to assist small businesses can be a solution.
Secondly, the working poor may have a bad influence upon the rest of Japanese citizens. "No matter how hard I work, my life cannot seem to be comfortable. I just look down upon my palm." This is what Takuboku Ishikawa said in his poem 100 years ago. What a dreary world it is! I believe that work makes people motivated, and decent wages makes people more motivated.
Thirdly, we have to make an effort to eliminate the word "poor." The negative word shows that there is something we have to deal with. Working poor, poor learning, poor eating, and poor sleep. We have to take an action to improve any unfavorable living conditions.
In conclusion, I believe that helping the working poor will lead to an affluent society and make people happy mentally and physically. Therefore, I agree with the idea that we should do more to help the working poor.
