In what ways has the Internet made young people more vulnerable?Everybody knows that the Internet is indispensble and useful today, yet we shouldn't forget that it has a negative impact especially on young people. I'd like to talk about it with two aspects.
First, young people depend on the Internet too much. It's hard to find a single person without a celler phone these days, and young people seem to be absorbed in communicating with others in the virtual world. Ive been teaching English to young adults for 4 years. Before, after and sometimes during the classes, students hold their celler phones in their hands. They're always surfing the Internet, sending a text message, and answering to senders' without a break. They're afraid of being isolated, and this is a bad effect raised by the Internet.
Second, cyberbullying is a serious problem among young people. Without facing each other, they tend to be bold and sarcastic and take a strong attitude toward others. They feel peer pressure, so once they start bullying, they cannot seem to stop. Their bonding is very unstable and fragile on the Internet in a way.
In conclusion, young people who are addicted to the Internet cannot distinguish a real life from a virtual life, and it often causes cyberbullying which makes young people commit suicide sometimes.
